Job summary

Staples, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Architect Release) to lead application architecture governance, cloud strategy, release engineering, and deployment operations.

You will evaluate designs, guide infrastructure choices, and drive automation across enterprise teams to support Staples' cloud transformation. You will mentor engineers, own CI/CD pipelines and IaC practices, coordinate with Engineering, Security, Infrastructure and Product, and serve as the final technical approval

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE/IT or related field.
• 7+ years in software/cloud/infrastructure/DevOps roles.
• 3+ years developing Java or C# web/API apps in a team.
• Experience leading complex enterprise-scale initiatives.
• Experience evaluating cloud/hybrid/on-prem deployments.
• Proficient with CI/CD, release automation, and IaC.
• Experience supporting cloud security, monitoring, resiliency.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture reviews, deployment planning, and production readiness.
• Evaluate deployment models across Azure, hybrid, and on‑premises.
• Establish release governance standards and deployment processes.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and IaC solutions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions.
• Serve as final technical approval point for production deployments.
• Monitor platform performance and improve reliability and security.
• Drive cloud modernization and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Develop standards and operational processes for governance.
