Job summary

Staples is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, I (Architect Release) to lead architecture governance, cloud strategy, and release operations. You will guide designs, craft scalable infrastructure, and drive automation across Azure, hybrid, and on‑prem environments.

Partner with Engineering, Security, Product, and Architecture to advance Staples' cloud transformation. You will mentor engineers, influence enterprise technology decisions, and own production deployment readiness across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, SE, IT, engineering or related technical field.
• 7+ years of experience in software/cloud engineering, DevOps, or release engineering.
• 3+ years in Java or C# web/API development within a team.
• Experience leading deployment activities, architecture reviews, and enterprise-scale projects.
• Experience evaluating cloud, hybrid, and on-prem deployment strategies.
• Proficiency with CI/CD, deployment automation, and IaC methodologies.
• Experience in cloud security, monitoring, and resiliency.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture reviews and production readiness for strategic initiatives.
• Specify deployment models across Azure, hybrid, and on-prem environments.
• Establish release governance standards and deployment processes.
• Design CI/CD pipelines and IaC solutions for automated deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable technology solutions.
• Act as final technical approval point for production releases.
• Monitor platform performance and improve reliability and security.
• Drive cloud modernization and adoption of emerging technologies.
• Develop standards and operational processes for governance and stability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams.
