Job summary

IBM Software is seeking a skilled infrastructure engineer to design, build, and evolve internal services behind the Confluent Cloud Platform. You will work with Go, Java, or Python, and apply Kubernetes, GitOps, and cloud-native tooling to power a scalable data streaming platform.

You will collaborate across engineering teams, own components end-to-end, ensure security, observability, and reliability, and participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation for global availability.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, or Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes in production and cloud-native ecosystems.
• Automation and reliability practices—with GitOps, Terraform, CI/CD, observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve internal infrastructure services powering the core platform.
• Own systems to be secure, scalable, observable, and reliable.
• Collaborate with engineers to enable fast, safe deployment of services.
• Take shared responsibility for availability, performance, monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning.
• Work on systems at scale across tens of thousands of instances and multiple regions.
• Influence the architecture and operational strategy behind the critical infrastructure that supports all cloud services.
• Participate in a follow-the-sun 8-hour on-call rotation.
