Job summary

Venmo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud networking and routing infrastructure within our AWS environment. You will manage CDNs, edge security, and ingress, collaborating with SRE, security, and product teams to deliver scalable, reliable networking solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience in software development or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate cloud network and routing infrastructure across our AWS environment.
• Build, tune, and operate cloud CDN and edge delivery using AWS CloudFront.
• Configure and maintain WAF rules and edge security controls.
• Operate Envoy- and Contour-based ingress and service mesh for traffic.
• Configure nginx-based reverse proxy and load-balancing services.
• Partner with SRE, security, and product engineering teams on shared networking initiatives.
• Troubleshoot network incidents; identify root cause and implement fixes.
• Develop and improve infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for networking and routing.
• Participate in on-call rotation supporting network, routing, and edge services.
• Document designs, runbooks, and operational best practices.
