Job summary

Venmo is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Cloud Network & Routing team, shaping the strategy for CDN, ingress, and edge security. You will own end-to-end networking design, mentor engineers, and drive scalable, secure infrastructure across Venmo’s AWS environment.

You will collaborate with SRE, security, and product teams to ensure fast, reliable connectivity and robust edge capabilities, while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or master's in computer science or related field.
• Extensive experience operating distributed cloud networks and edge infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency with CDN, WAF, ingress, and proxy technologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead major initiatives end-to-end across cloud networking, routing, CDN, and infra security.
• Architect and evolve our CDN and edge delivery strategy for performance and cost efficiency.
• Own the architecture of our Envoy- and Contour-based ingress and related proxies.
• Mentor engineers and drive networking design principles across teams.
• Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
