SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER

Location: Kansas City, MO.

Job type: Contract to Hire

Our global EPC Firm client is hiring a Senior Network Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity for their Corporate IT team in Kansas City, MO.

The Network Analyst/Cloud Network Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of our multi-cloud network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with multi-cloud networking, a strong understanding of network protocols, cloud network peering, cloud security services, and a proven track record in troubleshooting and optimizing cloud network performance.

Responsibilities

1. Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based network infrastructure using platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, and OCI.
2. Configure and maintain virtual networks, subnets, and security groups to ensure optimal performance and security.
3. Deploy VPC and VNET cloud network boundaries and associated policies.
4. Deploy and maintain cloud network peering and routing services like Azure vWAN and AWS Transit Gateways.
5. Configure and deploy cloud network load balancing and security services like cloud firewalls and WAFs.
6. Deploy cloud network configurations utilizing Infrastructure as Code – specifically Terraform.
7. Develop and implement cloud network architecture, ensuring seamless connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and cloud services including private connectivity solutions like ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, and cloud network exchanges like Equinix and Megaport.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and resilient network solutions.
9. Monitor and analyze cloud network performance, identifying and resolving issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
10. Implement strategies for load balancing, auto-scaling, and disaster recovery to optimize resource utilization.
11. Provide technical support for cloud-related network issues, working closely with other IT teams to resolve incidents promptly.
12. Document and maintain network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
13. Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and other IT staff to ensure seamless integration of cloud services.
14. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns.
15. Respond to network incidents and outages promptly, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
16. Assist the Network Operations team in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LAN, WAN, and wireless network environments.
17. Identify and analyze new technologies and alternative systems to enhance security, reliability, and customer experience.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field AND 8 years of direct network analyst experience, OR
2. Associate’s Degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field AND 10 years of direct network analyst experience, OR
3. High School Degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field AND 12 years of direct network analyst experience.
4. Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Network Engineer, AWS Cloud Practitioner, etc.) are a plus.
5. Significant experience building and managing networks in Microsoft Azure.
6. Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, virtualization, and networking protocols.
7. Experience deploying cloud network configurations using Terraform.
8. Experience with cloud-based network infrastructure in all four major cloud platforms - Azure, AWS, GCP, and OCI.
9. Experience managing LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
10. Experience with SD-WAN technology.
11. Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is desirable.
12. Certification in relevant networking technologies (e.g., CCNA, CWNA).
13. In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, etc.).
14. Experience with enterprise DNS solutions such as Cloudflare.
15. Experience with Cisco and Meraki network hardware.
16. Experience with network automation tools.
17. Experience with network security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption.
18. Experience with multi-cloud connectivity.
19. Strong ability to influence or lead enterprise integration project execution.
20. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
21. Ability to be on-call after-hours on a rotating basis.
