Job summary

MarketAxess is seeking a hands-on Lead Engineer to join our team who has a passion and expertise in helping us build our next-gen Trading Workstation.

The ideal candidate will design and operate highly scalable, available, and fault-tolerant trading platforms across a range of technologies, focusing on architecture, software quality, and collaboration with Product and Engineering to deliver value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with 5+ in cloud computing.
• Experience building event-driven architectures with Java and Kafka.
• Minimum of 3 years of people management leading global teams.
• E-trading and financial services industry, FIX Protocol experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical vision and drive strategy around solutions for which your team is responsible.
• Own services from requirements gathering, design, development, testing, to production and support platform reliability.
• Define principles, guidelines, standards, and reference models to support architectural governance.
• Lead engineers, mentor the team, and ensure adherence to standards through code reviews.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and apply them to enable new business capabilities.
