Job summary

IBM Software is seeking software engineers at multiple levels to grow our Traffic team, which builds and manages the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. You will design, implement, and operate backend services in a cloud-native environment, owning features end to end with a focus on performance and reliability.

The role requires 5–10 years of experience creating distributed systems, strong API discipline, and proficiency in languages like Go, Java, or C++.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience building distributed backend systems in production.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure is a strong plus.
• BS/MS in CS or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services in a cloud-native environment.
• Own features end to end: requirements, design, implementation, testing, rollout.
• Work with distributed systems and microservices with strong API contracts.
• Contribute to reliability, monitoring, and on-call involvement where applicable.
• Collaborate with partner teams on architecture and data modeling.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Improve engineering practices and tooling to enable safer shipping.
• Promote inclusive collaboration and knowledge sharing.
