Job summary

IBM Software seeks software engineers at multiple levels to grow our Traffic team, responsible for the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. You will work on a data-plane that handles ingress/egress for Kafka clusters, focusing on performance, cost, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of relevant cloud infrastructure/cloud networking experience.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Experience building and operating large-scale systems.
• Solid understanding of basic systems operations (disk, network, OS).
• Self-starter with ability to work effectively in teams.
• Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, or other statically typed languages.
• Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure or GCP).

Responsibilities

• Build the software underpinning the Confluent Cloud network data plane platform with high performance and scalability.
• Drive execution of software projects in production with emphasis on quality.
• Build upon open source software to deliver business impact.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve ops for a complex tech stack spanning 3 clouds, microservices, containers, and virtualization.
