Job summary

IBM Software is seeking software engineers to join the Traffic team, building and managing the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. You will work on large-scale distributed systems, focusing on backend services, APIs, and platform resilience.

This role emphasizes end-to-end ownership, collaboration with partner teams, and improving engineering practices. A Master’s degree is preferred, and experience with cloud and Kubernetes is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience building distributed backend systems in production.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale services with clear API contracts and end-to-end lifecycle ownership.
• Solid systems-level understanding of networking, OS, and storage tradeoffs relevant to backend infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services that are secure, reliable, and scalable in a cloud-native environment.
• Own features end to end from requirements to rollout and improvements.
• Collaborate with distributed teams on architecture, data modeling, and integration points across the platform.
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
