Job summary

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in Seattle seeks an experienced engineer to own design and development for major components of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure, including a centralized database store for Oracle Public Cloud. You will contribute to scalable, reliable distributed systems and cloud services across multi-tenant environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems and/or cloud services.
• Strong knowledge of Java with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems and cloud services fundamentals.
• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
• Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies in cloud. Terraform and/or Ansible preferred.

Responsibilities

• System Design & Architecture - System Scalability: develop components for horizontal/vertical scaling and data plane usage.
• System Design & Architecture - System Reliability Design: build fault-tolerant components with redundancy and failover.
• System Design & Architecture - System Reliability Performance: design tests, runbooks, dashboards and alarms.
• System Design & Architecture - Correctness / Availability: implement features, testing and data replication techniques.
• Operational Troubleshooting & Incident Management: diagnose issues and participate in incident responses.
• Compliance & Security: apply security measures and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Automation & Change Management: maintain IaC scripts and follow patching/change plans.
