Job summary

NYCERS seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer to provide strategic design, implementation, and support for enterprise Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including AD/Entra integration and on‑prem connectivity. You will lead modernization initiatives, optimize performance, and drive cost efficiency while reducing technical debt.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field with 4+ years in datacenter/cloud engineering fitting the role.
• Alternatively, 8+ years of relevant datacenter/cloud experience may satisfy requirements.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise cloud architecture and networking in Azure, including VNet, DNS/DHCP, VPN/ExpressRoute, and connectivity.
• Lead cloud migration and modernization, evaluating workloads for rehosting, refactoring, or SaaS/PaaS alternatives.
• Design and implement HA, BCP, and DR strategies with recovery requirements and testing.
• Monitor and optimize cloud performance, capacity, reliability, and cost; mentor staff and document processes.
• Establish monitoring, automation, security governance, and IaC with Azure.
• Explore safe use of AI in Azure (Copilot, Monitor AI) for optimization and automation.
• Work with minimal supervision in a collaborative IT/security team; overtime may be required.
