Job summary

City of New York is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement, administer, optimize, and support enterprise Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Active Directory/Entra and related components.

The ideal candidate will lead modernization efforts, assess legacy workloads, and drive migrations while ensuring high availability, security, and cost efficiency. You will mentor IT staff and collaborate with network, security, and application teams to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related field with four years of relevant datacenter/cloud experience.
• Alternatively eight years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience in enterprise IT and cloud modernization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise Azure and hybrid cloud architecture and networking.
• Lead cloud migration and modernization, evaluating workloads for rehost, refactor or SaaS/PaaS.
• Develop HA, BCP, and DR strategies and test failover scenarios.
• Monitor performance, optimize costs, and mentor IT staff.
• Establish cloud monitoring, automation, and governance standards.
• Collaborate across IT and security teams to ensure secure, scalable connectivity.
