Job summary

PayPal is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps for Venmo's AI-powered tooling initiative. You will design and build scalable cloud solutions, mentor engineers, and deliver high‑quality, secure systems across global services.

You will work with AWS, EKS, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines, driving reliability and velocity while applying best practices in observability, security, and automation. A strong coding background is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Extensive hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure (AWS experience preferred).
• Hands-on programming and scripting (Python, Java, Bash, Go); containers and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to Venmo Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps initiatives, guiding engineers and coordinating work.
• Design and implement AI-powered tooling to improve productivity, reliability, and velocity.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure security, observability, and scalable operations across global services.
• Collaborate with management to raise engineering standards and best practices.
