Job summary

PayPal's Venmo team seeks a Senior Cloud/DevOps Engineer to ensure seamless operation of user-facing services and internal systems. You will deliver complete SDLC solutions, mentor engineers, and drive automation across AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

You’ll operate with limited supervision, define design work, and collaborate with product teams in a data-driven environment. This hybrid role offers 3 days in the office and 2 days remote in Austin, TX, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in computer science or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in software development.
• 3+ years operating distributed applications 24x7, in a Cloud Eng/DevOps context.
• Extensive hands-on experience designing and supporting AWS infrastructure.
• Hands-on programming & scripting (Python, Java, Bash, Go).
• Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Delivers complete solutions across all SDLC phases.
• Advises management on project-level issues.
• Guides junior engineers.
• Operates with little supervision, making technical decisions.
• Applies best practices to decision-making.
• Act as hands-on contributor and lead by example.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve ops reliability.
• Develop automation for infra and configuration as code.
• Enhance the quality and stability of infrastructure and operations.
