Job summary

Referment is recruiting a Senior Cloud Engineer for its New York infrastructure team to design and operate a cloud platform spanning AWS and Azure. You will build cloud-native platforms using containers, serverless tech and automation, while shaping standards across the organization.

The role requires 5–10 years in cloud or infrastructure engineering, with strong IaC, scripting and secure, resilient multi-region design. This is a high-visibility, globally connected environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, deploying and managing cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Strong understanding of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS and when to use each.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform and Ansible for automated provisioning.
• Proficient scripting in Python, PowerShell or Bash for automation.
• Experience building containerised environments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery.
• Deep understanding of cloud networking, IAM, encryption and security best practices.
• Experience with multi-region deployments, DR and business continuity.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain highly available cloud infra across AWS and Azure.
• Shape cloud architecture and establish engineering standards for a global investment business.
• Build cloud-native platforms using containers, microservices and serverless tech.
• Develop infrastructure as code with Terraform and Ansible.
• Enhance automated deployment pipelines for faster, safer changes.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise performance, security and cost.
• Implement observability with CloudWatch, Grafana and Datadog.
• Strengthen IAM, encryption, network security and cloud controls.
• Design DR and multi-region architectures and recovery strategies.
• Collaborate with global teams and managed service providers.
