Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Cloud Software Engineer in Annapolis, MD to design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure and IaC pipelines using Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK. The role emphasizes secure, scalable architectures, cost optimization, and proactive monitoring.

You will work with Java and React, container platforms, and open source tools to deliver resilient cloud services with high availability, disaster recovery, and logging strategies for national security programs.

Qualifications

• Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud infrastructure and services (compute, storage, networking, IAM).
• Experience designing secure, scalable cloud architectures and IaC pipelines.
• Experience with IaC tools: Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, etc.
• Knowledge of containers and platforms (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE).
• Experience monitoring, logging, alerting with CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch and incident response.
• Experience backup, DR, high-availability strategies.
• Secrets management with KMS/KeyVault/Secret Manager, rotation policies.
• Experience optimizing cloud cost and performance and producing usage/cost reports.
• Experience troubleshooting networking, security, and service limits in cloud infra.
• Experience documenting architectures, runbooks, and procedures.
• Experience with Linux OS.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure with best practices and governance.
• Build reusable modules (Helm Charts, Terraform) and enforce IaC standards.
• Develop with Java and React.
• Monitor health and performance, implement solutions for efficiency.
• Plan for failure/recovery, cost optimization, and cloud service analysis.
• Contribute to runbooks and procedures; share knowledge with teams.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend system enhancements.
• Provide architectures, performance metrics, and knowledge transfer.
