Job summary

Empower AI is seeking a senior Cloud Engineer to architect, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure supporting Army IT managed services. The role bridges on-premises environments with cloud-native architectures, ensuring secure, resilient operations across a hybrid IT landscape.

This remote-eligible position may be performed in Roanoke or Radford, VA area on-site or hybrid for local candidates. Strong DoD cybersecurity knowledge and hands-on cloud engineering experience are required.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, including cloud migration programs.
• CompTIA Security+ CE certification - required (DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II).
• Active cloud certification (AWS/Azure/GCP) required.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on FedRAMP-authorized platforms (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Google Cloud for Government).
• Lead cloud migration efforts including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and refactoring.
• Support hybrid cloud operations with on-premises infrastructure and virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Develop and enforce cloud governance policies (IAM, guardrails, tagging, cost controls).
• Implement IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalent tools.
