Job summary

AccruePartners is seeking a hands-on Senior Azure Engineer to own and operate the Azure environment during a major modernization. You will build, automate, and run Azure infrastructure, focusing on Bicep, pipelines, and provisioning automation while ensuring security and cost control.

You will work with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams, plus an external MSP, shaping how environments are deployed and governed as the cloud practice grows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years in infrastructure or cloud engineering with hands-on Azure production experience.
• Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments (GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps).
• Proficient with Azure IaaS: VMs, VNets, NSGs, Firewall, load balancers, DNS, VPN/ExpressRoute, storage.
• Security/identity basics: Entra ID, RBAC, Key Vault, Azure Policy.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate a newly migrated Azure environment end-to-end.
• Build, automate, and harden infrastructure using Bicep modules and pipelines.
• Develop provisioning automation and monitoring to accelerate deployments.
• Collaborate with cloud engineering, infrastructure, DBA, and application teams; partner with MSP.

• A growing enterprise technology organization in the middle of a significant modernization of its infrastructure, cloud environment, and operating practices
• An infrastructure and cloud team completing a large-scale migration of hundreds of servers and SQL instances into Azure, and preparing to take full day-to-day ownership of the new environment
• A collaborative group working across cloud engineering, infrastructure, database administration, application teams, and an external managed services partner
• An organization investing heavily in Azure, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and automation
• This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role focused on building, automating, and operating the organization's Azure environment

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

• The organization is closing out a major migration into Azure and will soon own the environment day to day. It needs a senior engineer who can run it and build on it
• There is more infrastructure work stacking up than the current team can absorb. This role adds senior, hands-on capacity, not another layer of design and oversight
• This person will extend the environment as code: building on existing Bicep modules, standing up GitHub Actions pipelines, and automating provisioning so environments can be deployed consistently and quickly
• Security, cost, and reliability run through this role, including identity and access, Azure Policy guardrails, secrets management, monitoring, and cost optimization
• You will work alongside infrastructure leadership, database and application teams, and an external managed services partner, and serve as a go-to Azure resource for the team
• The organization is looking for someone who can take a priority, determine the right approach, and deliver it without needing every detail spelled out

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

• 6+ years in infrastructure or cloud engineering, including 3+ years hands-on in Azure production environments
• Production experience writing and deploying Bicep or ARM templates; Terraform-first Azure engineers comfortable working in an existing Bicep codebase will also be considered
• Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps for infrastructure deployments
• Strong Azure IaaS background: VMs, VNets, NSGs, Azure Firewall, load balancing, DNS, VPN/ExpressRoute, and storage
• Working knowledge of Azure identity and security, including Entra ID, RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault, and Azure Policy
• Scripting in PowerShell and Azure CLI, with Git-based version control
• Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, or comparable monitoring tools
• Experience supporting production environments, including incident response and on-call
• Experience with on-premises to Azure migrations, Azure Landing Zones, or working alongside managed service providers is a strong plus
• Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-400 are a plus
• A builder's mindset: comfortable owning work end to end and moving quickly from priority to working solution
