Our client is building out an in-house Cloud Engineering function as they continue to mature their Microsoft Azure environment and reduce reliance on third-party partners. They’re looking for a hands‑on Azure Cloud Engineer who wants real ownership, influence, and the opportunity to help shape how cloud infrastructure is designed, secured, and operated long term.
This is not a purely architectural role. Our client needs a true Azure subject matter expert—someone who enjoys getting in the weeds, solving complex problems, and driving execution across cloud infrastructure, security, and automation.
What You’ll Do
- Own day-to-day management of the Azure cloud environment, including IaaS and PaaS services (VMs, App Services, SQL Databases, Storage)
- Monitor performance and costs, implementing optimizations to improve reliability and efficiency
- Lead Infrastructure as Code (IaC) efforts using Terraform and ARM templates
- Automate cloud operations using PowerShell and Azure CLI
- Drive cloud security best practices, including Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, Key Vault, NSGs, and identity controls
- Manage and secure Azure AD, PIM, and Conditional Access policies
- Serve as the escalation point for Azure-related issues and provide advanced troubleshooting
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams to ensure cloud best practices are followed
- Build dashboards and alerts using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
What They’re Looking For
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience managing and securing an enterprise Azure environment
- Strong expertise across core Azure services
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code
- Advanced scripting skills with PowerShell and Azure CLI
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Azure DevOps
- A builder’s mindset—someone who takes ownership and executes, not just designs
Required Certifications
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
Location
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days on-site in Charlotte (Steele Creek area)
This is a strong opportunity for an Azure engineer who wants to own a cloud environment, reduce vendor dependence, and help build a modern, internal cloud capability from the inside. If you’re looking for impact, autonomy, and long-term growth, this role is worth a conversation.
