Job summary

Element 84 is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to design, deploy, and operate cloud-native solutions at scale. You will lead IaC-driven deployments across AWS and Azure, build secure, reliable CI/CD pipelines, and mentor teams on best practices for cloud architecture.

The role emphasizes automation, monitoring, and collaboration with security and domain teams. Remote-friendly with in-person hubs near Alexandria, VA and Philadelphia.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in software development with 3+ years in cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience with IaC; writing and troubleshooting cloud configurations.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, or JavaScript.
• Experience deploying and managing services on a major cloud platform.
• Ability to document and communicate complex architectures clearly.
• Experience balancing security, performance, and cost tradeoffs.
• Strong multitasking and prioritization across multiple customers.
• Extensive experience in Agile software teams.
• Solid Linux experience.
• Understanding cloud architecture patterns (serverless vs provisioned).
• Build and deployment automation tools expertise.
• Monitoring tools experience (CloudWatch, Kibana, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, etc.).
• Data storage/data engineering tools (ElasticSearch, SQL/NoSQL, DynamoDB, Redshift, Athena, Glue).
• Networking tools/troubleshooting (CloudFront, Route53, Load Balancers, API Gateway, VPCs, NACLs).
• Cloud certifications or willingness to obtain one.
• US Person status and ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure cloud-native solutions on AWS.
• Collaborating with security experts to translate organizational security requirements into secure and compliant cloud implementations.
• Developing and maintaining infrastructure-as-code to manage and provision infrastructure across numerous Azure and AWS accounts, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
• Maintaining and optimizing CI/CD automation pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable software deployments.
• Crafting automation scripts in Python, Bash, JavaScript, and other relevant languages to streamline operational workflows.
• Contributing to the development and maintenance of infrastructure supporting Generative AI applications on domain-specific datasets.
• Automating the creation and management of front and back-end applications, pipelines, security tooling, etc.
• Defining and advocating for best practices and standards for DevOps success across Element 84 and our customer organizations.
