Job summary

Leadout Capital in San Francisco is seeking a Cloud & DevOps Engineer, Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS), to design, build, automate, and operate secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and production platforms. You will work with software engineers, infrastructure teams, security partners, and product teams.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with public cloud and cloud-native technologies, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, observability, and production operations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of senior or lead Cloud DevOps engineering experience.
• Experience in performance engineering and benchmarking.
• Experience deploying/operating workloads on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficient in Core Java, Python, or another OO language.
• Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge: compute, storage, networking, IAM, security, HA, DR.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes or similar orchestration.
• IaC and configuration automation with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Helm, etc.
• Building/managing CI/CD pipelines and automated release workflows.
• Development or automation using Python/Go/Java.
• Familiarity with databases and database clustering.
• Linux systems administration and performance fundamentals.
• Observability using logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, alerts.
• Distributed systems concepts: scalability, fault tolerance, availability.
• Troubleshooting production issues across app, infra, networks, and cloud.
• Full lifecycle engineering: design to runbooks.
• AI-assisted development tools for automation and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, automate, and operate secure, reliable, and scalable cloud infrastructure and production platforms.
• Independently deliver cloud, DevOps, reliability, and automation improvements after alignment on plan and architecture.
• Develop automation tools, scripts, APIs, and engineering tools in Python/Go/Java.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code for provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines for build, test, security, deployment, and release.
• Deploy and operate containerized workloads using Kubernetes or comparable platforms.
• Apply cloud and distributed-systems concepts for scalability, resilience, and capacity management.
• Build observability with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, and health checks.
• Diagnose production incidents via telemetry and system analysis; implement preventive improvements.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks and convert them into safe automation.
• Participate in production support and incident response across layers.
• Contribute to design discussions, tradeoffs, and operational runbooks.
• Apply security and reliability practices across delivery; manage access and changes.
• Engage in full engineering lifecycle and documentation.
