Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL in on-premises and multi-cloud environments across Azure, AWS, and GCP. You will ensure availability, performance, backups, and security in alignment with RTO/RPO objectives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of database administration (DBA) experience in enterprise environments.
• 5+ years supporting mission-critical production databases with 24x7 ops.
• 5+ years administering PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL platforms.
• 3+ years backing cloud-based DB platforms across Azure, AWS, GCP (PaaS/IaaS).
• 3+ years driving cloud migrations, HA/DR solutions, and performance tuning.
• 3+ years scripting with Python and Shell; 2+ years IaC (Terraform/Ansible).
• Willingness to participate in 24x7 on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MySQL across on-prem and multi-cloud.
• Manage installations, upgrades, migrations, patching, and security provisioning.
• Ensure availability, performance, backups, recovery, and DR aligned with RTO/RPO.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents; participate in on-call rotations.
• Support storage, capacity planning, releases, and change management.
• Collaborate with engineering, application, and infrastructure teams for cloud modernization.
• Maintain docs and contribute to architectures, standards, and ops excellence.
• Communicate risks and remediation plans to stakeholders.
