Job summary

SMX is seeking a Senior Cloud Database Developer to serve as the core database authority for the Business Intelligence Suite in Washington, DC. The role focuses on health, performance, security, and scalability of the FFD Data Warehouse and cloud database ecosystems (Redshift, PostgreSQL/Aurora).

You will lead data architecture modernizations and optimize high-volume queries for BI engines like WebFOCUS, with a Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

8+ years of database development and administration experience, with 4+ years on cloud platforms (AWS).
Expertise in Redshift and PostgreSQL/Aurora administration.
Experience with ETL/orchestration tools like Airflow or AWS Glue.
Advanced SQL, query tuning, stored procedures, and schema optimization.
Scripting in Python or Bash for automation of maintenance and monitoring.
Strong knowledge of cloud DB security practices and HA/DR strategies.
Active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering, configuration, performance tuning, and lifecycle management of cloud-native analytical data stores (Redshift, Aurora, RDS).
Monitor performance, tune parameters, design indexing/partitioning, and optimize queries for BI tools like WebFOCUS.
