Job summary

SMX seeks a Senior Cloud Database Developer to be the core database authority for the BI suite in an on-site role in Washington, DC. You will lead cloud-native data stores, optimize analytical queries for BI engines like WebFOCUS, and enforce security with a focus on high availability.

You will collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Architects to modernize architecture, migrate assets using DMS and Airflow, and automate deployments with IaC tools. A Top Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in database development and administration, with 4+ years on cloud platforms.
• Strong Redshift and PostgreSQL/Aurora administration.
• Experience with ETL/orchestration using Airflow or AWS Glue.
• SQL mastery and query optimization.
• Scripting in Python or Bash for automation.
• Knowledge of cloud DB security and HA/DR.
• Active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead provisioning and performance tuning of cloud analytical data stores (Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS).
• Optimize queries and design indexing/partitioning for BI tools (WebFOCUS).
• Oversee migration and integration of data to modern cloud repos using DMS and Airflow.
• Develop automation scripts for schema deployments and maintenance.
• Collaborate with data engineers and architects to review schemas and data modeling.
