Job summary

Karsun Solutions, LLC is seeking a seasoned Senior Platform Reliability Engineer to lead our cloud-native AWS data and AI platform for a federal program. You will own reliability, observability, incident response, platform engineering, and data-product operations.

You’ll partner with SRE leads to design and implement SRE practices, build monitoring and logging across data stacks, drive runbooks, DR planning, and ensure production readiness with strict security and compliance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of directly relevant IT work experience.
• 7+ years in technical operations / platform / SRE; 3+ years in AWS production.
• Deep understanding of data products, SLAs, and consumer contracts.
• Proven experience operating data platforms (Databricks, Airflow, S3).
• Strong SRE practices: incident response, runbooks, chaos testing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical owner for platform availability and runbook development.
• Design and implement SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, toil reduction).
• Build monitoring, alerting, and observability across data/AI stacks.
• Lead incident management, RCA, remediation tracking, and improvements.
• Automate workflows with IaC and CI/CD pipelines; reduce manual toil.
• Define backup/restore, RTO/RPO, and disaster recovery for data/ML systems.
• Ensure production readiness, access controls, and federal compliance.
• Manage capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning.
• Mentor an ops/SRE team and coordinate platform changes.
• Maintain vendor integrations and coordinate upgrades under change control.
• Report reliability metrics and maturity improvements to leadership.
• Maintain eligibility to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
