Job summary

Karsun Solutions, LLC seeks an experienced Senior DevOps/SRE lead to own a cloud-native data and AI platform for a federal program. You will drive reliability, observability, incident response, and platform engineering for data pipelines, feature stores, and model serving.

You will collaborate with the SRE Lead to implement SRE practices, automate deployments with IaC and CI/CD, and ensure compliance and security across the stack. A Public Trust clearance is often required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of directly relevant IT work experience.
• 7+ years in technical operations / platform / SRE; 3+ years in AWS production environments.
• Deep understanding of data products, SLAs, and data lineage.
• Experience operating data platforms (Databricks, Airflow, S3, Kafka/Kinesis).
• Proficient with observability tools (Prometheus, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
• Strong security/compliance for federal environments (RBAC, encryption).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; can produce runbooks and RCA reports.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical owner for platform availability and runbook development for data pipelines and model serving.
• Collaborate with SRE Lead to design and implement SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, toil reduction).
• Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability across data/AI stacks.
• Lead incident management: on-call rotations, RCA, remediation tracking.
• Automate deployments, scaling, and recovery using Terraform/CloudFormation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Define runbooks, backup/restore, RTO/RPO, and disaster recovery for data/ML systems.
• Ensure production readiness, access controls, and federal compliance requirements.
• Mentor and lead an ops/SRE team; manage vendor integrations and upgrades.
