Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a senior data platform engineer to lead the design and delivery of cloud-native data pipelines on Azure. You will own architecture, data flows, and integration with lidar/met mast sensing systems, while guiding multiple teams across design, build, and deploy phases.

The role requires 7+ years in software engineering or data platforms, with strong Azure, Kubernetes, React/TypeScript frontend, and C#/Python backend expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Azure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-204, AZ-305) or equivalent cloud credential preferred
• Minimum 7 years of software engineering or data platform experience including hands-on development and leadership
• Experience designing and managing multi-stage data pipelines with data cleaning, transformation, and validation
• Experience delivering Azure-based solutions (AKS, containers, Azure Functions, data lake, multi-environment deployments)
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, messaging (RabbitMQ), event-driven architecture, API design
• Frontend in React/TypeScript and backend in C#, Python; IaC with Terraform; SQL and large datasets
• Experience with Linux and Windows servers, Dockerfiles, and 3rd-party integrations
• Experience with global teams across time zones; Agile or hybrid delivery
• Nice-to-have: Dapr, lidar/met mast sensors, AI/ML data workflows, Databricks/Delta Lake, Airflow

Responsibilities

• Architect and own scalable, cloud-native data pipelines across SDP platform
• Define system architecture, data flows, and service boundaries for ingestion to monitoring
• Create architecture diagrams and reusable design patterns; guide development teams
• Lead CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and observability frameworks
• Integrate measurement systems with enterprise IT platforms; ensure data reliability and traceability
• Oversee end-to-end feature delivery from design to operate, review code for security and performance
• Mentor engineers, promote engineering excellence, and coordinate across stakeholders
