Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Cloud Data Pipeline (CDP) for the U.S. Coast Guard.

This 100% remote role involves end-to-end engineering—planning, data ingestion, and sustainment—across USCG environments with a focus on security, compliance, and enterprise data sharing. Qualified candidates will have DoD 8570 IAT II certification, strong coding in Java/.NET/Python, Linux expertise, and hands-on experience with Confluent Kafka, Terraform, and containerization

Qualifications

• Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification in good standing (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA-Security).
• Advanced hands-on programming in Java, .NET, or Python.
• Strong Linux programming and system administration background.
• Experience with Confluent platform and Apache Kafka for enterprise data streaming.
• Ability to complete USCG PUMP process for RBAC administrative account.
• Expertise in configuration management, requirements analysis, and system architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead deployment planning and execution of the CDP within USCG cloud environments.
• Implement robust data ingestion and sharing between designated systems and the CDP.
• Ensure CDP implementation complies with USCG software standards.
• Plan and execute maintenance to ensure uptime of the CDP in USCG environments.
• Maintain data ingestion and sharing capabilities between networks and CDP ecosystem.
• Ensure ongoing maintenance adheres to USCG standards.
• Provide technical oversight for long-term sustainment and modernization of the CDP.
• Manage complex configurations and performance tuning to support data availability.
• Ensure lifecycle activities comply with established USCG standards.
