Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Cloud Data Pipeline (CDP) for the U.S. Coast Guard across USCG environments.

This 100% remote role focuses on implementing, maintaining, and sustaining data ingestion and sharing via Confluent and Apache Kafka to reduce silos and improve data discoverability enterprise-wide. The position requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, strong Linux skills, and experience with Kafka, Confluent, IaC tools, and RBAC.

Qualifications

• Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification in good standing (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
• Advanced hands-on programming in Java, .NET, or Python.
• Strong Linux programming and system administration background.
• Experience with Confluent platform and Apache Kafka for enterprise data streaming.
• Ability to complete USCG PUMP RBAC process to obtain admin account.
• Expert understanding of configuration management and system architecture concepts.
• Must have active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end implementation of the Cloud Data Pipeline within USCG-designated environments.
• Plan and execute maintenance to ensure CDP uptime and data flow continuity.
• Provide sustainment planning for long-term modernization of the CDP.
• Ensure compliance with USCG software standards during all lifecycle activities.
