Job summary

Cisco's Collaboration Business Unit seeks a senior distributed data engineer to design and deploy large-scale data solutions across Cassandra, Kafka, and OpenSearch in hybrid cloud environments. You will drive reliability, performance, and scalability for customer-facing services.

The role requires deep AWS and DevOps experience, IaC with Terraform/Ansible/Kubernetes, and strong leadership in delivering production systems.

Qualifications

• Distributed database experience with Cassandra, OpenSearch, Kafka, PostgreSQL or Redis.
• 5+ years managing AWS infrastructure at scale.
• 5+ years with IaC and DevOps tools (Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes) and Python.
• 5+ years supporting live production SaaS systems.
• 3+ years leading technical projects with milestones and stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy data solutions across Cassandra, Kafka and OpenSearch in hybrid AWS/private cloud.
• Automate cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible and Kubernetes; optimize for scale.
• Strengthen reliability via backups, patching, and incident management.
• Guide application teams on data access patterns and cloud migration strategies.
• Partner with teams across development, product and operations.
