Job summary

Avalore.ai in Maryland is seeking a Cloud Design Engineer, Level 3, to design, develop and optimize large-scale Cloud-based Big Data systems. You will contribute across backend processing, indexing and information retrieval, with a focus on Cloud computing and Hadoop ecosystem.

You will work with Java applications, distributed computing, IR concepts and OO design, reviewing components, testing, and documenting results while guiding teams on cloud software projects and technical trade-offs.

Qualifications

• Twelve (12) years of software engineering experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline required.
• Four (4) years in BigData cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance required.
• Multiple years of cloud and distributed computing experience essential.
• Experience with Cloud, MapReduce analytics and Hadoop ecosystem.
• Proficiency in Java, RESTful services, and OO design.
• Unix/Linux (CentOS) experience and configuration management tools.
• Knowledge of information retrieval and cloud-based architectures.
• Ability to design, test, and document software components.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval and Cloud IR.
• Implement complex MapReduce analytics and Cloud workflows.
• Develop code interfacing with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• Oversee software development tasks and ensure process adherence.
• Recommend improvements to documentation and process standards.
• Serve as SME for Cloud Computing and Hadoop technologies.
• Debug issues in Cloud-based distributed frameworks.
• Manage multi-node Cloud installations.
• Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to teams.
• Architect Cloud Computing solutions and assess hardware/software trade-offs.
