Job summary

Erias Ventures seeks a Cloud Software Engineer in Annapolis, MD to design, build, and optimize large-scale Big-Data cloud systems. You will contribute across backend processing, data indexing, and cloud infrastructure leveraging JavaScript, Node.js, and TypeScript.

Required qualifications include 8 years of software engineering experience, a CS-related degree, and cloud/distributed computing expertise; certifications like Cloudera Hadoop may count toward experience.

Qualifications

• 8 years of software engineering experience in programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; 4 years in Big-Data cloud tech.
• Four years of cloud software engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
• Master in Computer Science may substitute for two years of experience.
• Cloudera Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one year of cloud experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-depth knowledge of Information Retrieval and assist in designing, developing and testing Cloud Information Retrieval.
• Implement complex workflows that manage Cloud MapReduce analytics.
• Implement code that interacts with Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks.
• Oversee software development tasks and ensure completion within the chosen development process.
• Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
• Serve as SME for Cloud Computing technologies including Hadoop and distributed computing.
• Debug issues in Cloud-based distributed computing frameworks.
• Manage multi-node Cloud installations.
• Delegate programming and testing duties and monitor performance.
• Coordinate selection of software development process with customer and system engineering.
• Recommend new technologies and processes for complex cloud projects.
• Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.
