Job summary

Photon is seeking a Senior Cloud / Server Engineer to build and support scalable backend applications and cloud services. You will leverage Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Kubernetes, REST APIs, and databases across GCP and AWS.

You will optimize performance, implement caching, write unit tests, monitor with Datadog and Grafana, and follow secure coding practices while collaborating through GitHub and Jira.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing microservices-based applications.
• Experience with GCP and/or AWS.
• Hands-on Kubernetes.
• REST API development.
• SQL databases and MongoDB experience.
• Caching and scalability understanding.
• Familiar with AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience with GitHub and Jira.
• Unit testing and API testing.
• Secure coding practices.
• Monitoring with Datadog and Grafana.
• Debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and support backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain microservices-based applications.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs.
• Work with cloud environments, including GCP and AWS.
• Deploy and support applications running on Kubernetes.
• Work with SQL databases and MongoDB to meet data requirements.
• Design and develop services with scalability and performance in mind.
• Implement and manage caching mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot application, API, performance, and integration issues.
• Write and maintain unit tests and support API testing activities.
• Follow secure coding practices throughout the lifecycle.
• Monitor and troubleshoot applications using Datadog and Grafana.
• Use GitHub for source code management and Jira for work tracking.
• Leverage AI-assisted SDLC tools where appropriate during development.
