Job summary

Harnham is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and support scalable cloud-based applications and APIs powering customer-facing and internal platforms in Phoenix. This role focuses on back-end development while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver modern digital experiences.

You will work with AWS, serverless architectures, and microservices to translate business needs into robust technical solutions, including API design and data integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-8 years of software development experience (4-5+ years considered with depth).
• Experience building cloud-based applications, preferably AWS.
• Hands-on with serverless technologies and distributed systems.
• Strong background in API design, development, and integration.
• Experience with Python, Node.js; frontend with React, GraphQL, TypeScript, JavaScript.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Knowledge of CI/CD and modern delivery practices.
• Excellent communication to work with business stakeholders.
• Experience leading projects, mentoring developers, and conducting code reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications and APIs.
• Build and enhance backend services using serverless and microservices architectures.
• Contribute to customer-facing web and mobile experiences via API development.
• Partner with architects, product stakeholders, and business teams to define technical solutions.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and implementation plans.
• Support testing, deployment, and release activities including UAT coordination.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership on projects.
• Contribute to CI/CD and operational excellence initiatives.
• Assist in modernization efforts, platform enhancements, and data integrations.
