Job summary

Apple Inc. seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer for its Wallet, Payments and Commerce cloud team in Austin, TX. You will own end-to-end platform design, guide multi-quarter initiatives, and treat internal developers as customers to deliver scalable, secure cloud capabilities.

You will architect platform-as-a-product offerings, implement policy-as-code controls, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional collaboration with security, SRE, and product teams to accelerate production-grade adoption.

Qualifications

8+ years of Cloud infrastructure and platform engineering experience, with a track record of owning systems end-to-end in production.
Experience building platforms and platform-as-a-product; you treat internal developers as customers.
Kubernetes and Containers; multi-tenant, multi-cluster, multi-region footprints end-to-end.
Infrastructure as Code with Crossplane and Terraform; pattern design at scale.
Security-first architecture with Policy as Code (Kyverno, OPA/Gatekeeper).
Public cloud expertise across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure; know when to use services.
GitOps and CI/CD with Flux, Jenkins, Kargo; declarative promotions and reliable rollbacks.
Strong networking fundamentals; debugging cross-region connectivity.
Linux internals and systems-level troubleshooting; diagnose root causes.
Microservices and distributed systems experience; design for failure.
Experience with service meshes (Istio, Traefik, LinkerD) and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Sensu).
Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and align solutions with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Own the design and delivery of platform capabilities end-to-end from requirements to production.
Drive multi-quarter technical direction; align engineering, security, quality, and SRE.
Architect and evolve platform-as-a-product offerings for internal developers as customers.
Lead security-first patterns and policy-as-code controls to keep secure path easy.
Balance open-source and in-house tooling to scale with growth.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code review and design partnership.
Scale technologies and shepherd them from experiment to production-grade adoption.
Collaborate across teams to keep technical strategy cohesive and aligned with business goals.
Advocate modern cloud and DevOps practices across the Wallet, Payments and Commerce scope.
