Job summary

Brookfield Properties (USA II) LLC is seeking a Staff Security Engineer for Cloud & AI Platform to secure Brookfield Real Estate’s cloud and AI platforms by design. You will lead security architecture across AWS, Infrastructure as Code, software delivery, and internally developed applications and AI/agent systems.

You will threat‑model designs, review Terraform/OpenTofu, implement controls, and help teams adopt secure patterns with minimal friction.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in production security or platform systems, with senior ownership.
• Deep AWS security experience across IAM, multi-account environments, logging and detection.
• Strong Terraform or OpenTofu skills, including modular design and safe state changes.
• Experience securing CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, including OIDC federation and secrets management.
• Proficient in reading/writing production-grade automation or application code (Python/Go/Ruby).
• Ability to influence teams and turn security needs into implemented controls.
• Nice to have: Bedrock, AgentCore, MCP, AI guardrails, or production agentic systems.

Responsibilities

• Define security architecture for cloud and AI platforms and drive secure-by-default patterns.
• Document key decisions, communicate risk to leadership, and set secure standards.
• Review designs for auth, network, data protection, secrets, and tenant isolation.
• Mentor engineers to improve security decision-making.
• Partner with Cloud Solutions, AI engineering, Identity, CyberOps, and GRC/Privacy on prioritization and adoption.
• Build and evolve security controls in Terraform/OpenTofu with reusable patterns.
