Job summary

Nextera Search Group in New York City seeks an experienced Controller to lead CLO accounting and fund reporting for a major financial services client.

The role requires 10–12 years in accounting/finance with fund experience and a CPA. You will oversee NAVs, investor statements, regulatory reporting, and collaborate with auditors and internal teams to strengthen controls and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 10-12 years of accounting or finance experience, including investment fund accounting and reporting.
• CPA required.
• Experience with credit investments preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction and take ownership of assigned objectives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with employees, management, and external partners to solve problems and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and quarterly fund accounting and reporting, including financial results, investor allocations, and performance calculations.
• Review work prepared by fund administrators, including NAVs, investor statements, capital activity, and supporting schedules.
• Monitor fund cash activity, liquidity needs, expenses, and budgets to support investment and operating decisions.
• Review portfolio and accounting data, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of reconciliation items.
• Review management and performance fee calculations for accuracy.
• Respond to investor inquiries regarding fund reporting, account activity, and tax information.
• Coordinate with auditors and tax advisors on annual financial statements, tax reporting, and related requests.
• Partner with investment, investor relations, and other internal teams on reporting and special projects.
• Support applicable regulatory reporting and help improve accounting policies, processes, and controls.
