Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a licensed mental health professional to conduct clinical evaluations for ITA patients and prepare petitions for hearings. You will serve as an expert witness in ITA proceedings and document care in the EMR, coordinating with court orders and staff across disciplines.

The role requires WA licensure, a strong understanding of RCW 71.05/71.34 and DSM criteria, plus experience in acute mental health care and civil legal matters.

Qualifications

Requires Master’s or PhD in relevant field and licensure in WA.
2 years of experience in acute mental healthcare in inpatient, outpatient, or legal settings.
Knowledge of RCW 71.05, RCW 71.34, and the WAC.
Knowledge of DSM criteria and treatment modalities.
Ability to navigate the Washington ITA.
Understanding of pharmacological approaches and medical/legal parameters.

Responsibilities

Represent Providence Swedish in ITA legal proceedings as an expert and credible witness when patients meet statutory requirements
Document in the appropriate electronic medical record (EMR)

Educate and guide staff across disciplines on ITA laws and regulations
Liaise with Snohomish and King County ITA stakeholders
Engage treatment team members in care planning, court preparation, and alternative treatment measures
Provide forensic expertise at the intersection of mental health treatment, civil legal matters, and involuntary mental health treatment

Requirements

Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited school, or Ph.D. in Social Work or Psychology from an accredited school
Upon hire, Washington Mental Health Counselor License, Washington Clinical Independent Social Worker License, or Washington Psychologist License
2 years of experience in acute mental healthcare in an inpatient, outpatient, or legal setting
Working knowledge of RCW 71.05, RCW 71.34, and the WAC
Knowledge of DSM diagnostic criteria and treatment modalities
