Job summary

Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA, is hiring a Clinical Lab Scientist II to perform automated, semi-automated and manual testing across blood bank, chemistry, serology, hematology and more. This senior CLS will train staff and may lead in absence of a manager, ensuring accuracy and timely patient care.

Requirements include a CA CLS license, a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or equivalent, five years’ CLS experience, and strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Valid California State Department of Health Services Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of laboratory organization, policies and procedures.
• Supervisory skills in leadership and workload management.
• Interpersonal and communication skills with healthcare professionals.
• Analytical ability to resolve technical issues.
• Completed a supervised 1-year clinical laboratory internship.
• Minimum five years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
• Ability to learn and use computerized patient care management systems.
• Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Train lab personnel and perform in-charge duties when a manager is absent.
• Perform automated, semi-automated, and manual procedures across multiple lab areas.
• Maintain instrumentation, verify results, and ensure timely patient care.
