Job summary

MITRE in Chantilly, VA, is seeking experienced AI engineers to lead data analysis and AI initiatives supporting national security and other sponsor missions. You will evaluate models, implement ETL, and document study results for production transition.

The role requires hands-on ML model work (LLMs/Agentic AI), strong Python and ML frameworks, and an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph. On-site work four days per week is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years AI experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 1 year with a Master’s/PhD equivalent.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning, deploying, and evaluating large language models and/or Agentic AI.
• Proficiency in Python and AI frameworks such as HuggingFace, PyTorch, and MLflow.
• Ability to learn new technologies independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Active TS/SCI with Full Polygraph clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership by applying data analysis and AI techniques to solve and enhance the sponsor’s mission.
• Select and evaluate AI models to solve sponsor problems and tailor for production.
• Design and implement data normalization and ETL functions for studies.
• Define and execute technical studies with small teams.
• Propose technical approaches and prototype solutions to validate concepts.
• Document prototypes and study results to guide production deployment.
