Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Clean Water Act Programs Scientist/Engineer to apply technical expertise to water-resource and policy challenges in our Fairfax, Virginia, office.

You will lead and support projects involving program development, implementation, permitting, water-quality standards, and environmental policy while mentoring junior staff and serving federal, state, tribal, local, and private-sector clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, ecology, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge of federal and state clean water legislation and regulations.
• Experience with the Clean Water Act, water quality standards, environmental policy, watershed planning, and permitting.

Responsibilities

• Develop analyses supporting water pollution-reduction program development and implementation.
• Identify Clean Water Act compliance options for federal/state/local clients.
• Estimate effectiveness and cost of water pollution control options.
• Provide input to support clean water regulation and policy development.
• Review program implementation approaches for process improvement.
• Draft permits and regulatory documents for Clean Water Act implementation.
• Synthesize information into reports and technical guidance.
• Present findings to diverse audiences.
• Manage projects, budgets, and schedules; mentor junior staff.
