Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Senior Classification Officer for Calhoun Correctional Institution in the Classification department. This role focuses on assessing inmates based on needs, risks, and behaviors to ensure proper housing, program placement, and safety within the prison system.

You will manage a diverse caseload, make custody recommendations, supervise progress, and assist in training staff.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of Classification Officer experience.
• Experience with inmate classification, case management, and program placement preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of inmates and prepare comprehensive inmate management plans.
• Recommend custody classifications and institutional/program assignments based on evaluations from reports, interviews, and correspondence.
• Supervise and evaluate inmate progress, preparing progress reports and making special status recommendations.
• Maintain accurate inmate information in the offender database and evaluate gain time awards.
• Assist in training new classification staff and support administrative functions.
