Job summary

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi in Flowood, MS is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst for the Claims Department. You will analyze business requirements, develop mainframe applications and maintain claims systems, acting as a technical SME for claims platforms.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in CS/Math or related field, 7+ years of programming and 5+ years in system analysis with COBOL/JCL/CICS/MVS/DB2/SDLC. Strong communication and project skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• Seven years of programming experience.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Five years of system analysis and design experience.
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, MVS, DB2, and SDLC.
• Strong written and verbal communication; professional interaction with staff and customers.
• Familiar with Project Management, Time Management, Conflict Resolution and Teamwork concepts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements while creating technical specifications and developing mainframe applications, interfaces, and databases.
• Maintain claims applications, including production on-call support and issue resolution.
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert for claims systems.
• Provide expert consultative assistance to Applications management and staff.
• Support implementation of software releases for the BlueCard National Program.
