Job summary

Westfield Specialty is seeking an experienced claims professional to lead complex commercial and financial lines claims, including D&O, E&O and EPL. You will investigate, evaluate coverage, and reserve, while collaborating with outside counsel and underwriting to improve policy language and manage budgets.

The role requires strong communication, analytical, and negotiation skills, with 6–10 years in a specialty insurer or law firm, and a JD plus licenses to adjust insurance claims.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6–10 years’ experience in specialty insurance or law firm.
• Significant D&O, E&O or EPL experience; program claims and MGA/MGU platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Candidates will be required to obtain and maintain insurance adjuster licenses.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytic, investigative, listening and negotiation skills.
• Experience with multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel or transferable software.

Responsibilities

• Directly handle, manage and oversee commercial and financial lines claims including D&O, E&O, EPL.
• Investigate claims through initial contact, investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving and resolution.
• Provide high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Review policies to determine coverage and resolve coverage-related issues with outside counsel as needed.
• Prepare written reports and present claim developments to management, underwriting, actuary and reinsurers.
• Comply with all statutory regulations and unfair claims practices acts.
• Communicate developments and exposure analyses to claims management.
• Participate in mediations and settlement conferences; see claims through to resolution.
• Collaborate with underwriting and other partners to discuss claim trends and policy language.
• Attend meetings with insureds and brokers; manage outside vendors and outside attorneys to oversee budgets and litigation.
