Job summary

Westfield Specialty is seeking an experienced Claims Specialist to manage commercial and financial lines claims, including D&O, E&O, EPL, fiduciary and crime/fidelity coverage. The role requires close collaboration with underwriting, outside counsel and vendors, with the ability to analyze trends and present findings.

The candidate should have a JD and a relevant bachelor's degree, 6–10 years of experience, and be willing to travel. Onsite presence four days a week is required per policy.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 to 10 years' experience in a specialty insurance carrier and/or law firm.
• Significant D&O, E&O or EPL experience with program claims and MGA/MGU platforms.
• Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Candidates will be required to obtain and maintain insurance adjuster licenses.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills with all levels of management.

Responsibilities

• Directly handle, manage and oversee commercial and financial lines Public and Private D&O, E&O, EPL, Fiduciary and Crime/Fidelity claims.
• Handle claims through initial contact, investigation, coverage evaluation and reserving, and resolution documentation.
• Provide excellent customer service in all interactions with internal/external customers and partners.
• Review policies to determine coverage and resolve coverage-related matters with outside counsel when needed.
• Prepare written reports and present claims developments to management, underwriting and reinsurers.
• Adhere to statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts.
• Communicate claim developments and exposure analyses to claims management.
• Participate in mediations and settlements and see claims through to resolution.
• Work with underwriting and partners to analyze claim trends and assist with policy language.
• Attend meetings with insureds and brokers alongside underwriting.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and attorneys to manage budgets and litigation.
