Base pay range

$145,000.00/yr - $165,000.00/yr

This role is responsible for overseeing and managing a diverse portfolio of complex management and professional liability claims, including Directors & Officers (D&O), Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Fiduciary, Crime/Fidelity, Financial Institutions E&O, and related coverage lines. The position involves direct file handling as well as collaboration with external counsel and vendors, ensuring best-in-class claims management from intake through resolution.

Hybrid schedule: 3 days/week in office in Berkley Heights NJ, Chicago IL, New York NY, Alpharetta GA, or Los Angeles CA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full lifecycle of assigned claims, from initial intake and investigation to evaluation, negotiation, and final resolution, ensuring adherence to established claims handling protocols.
• Conduct thorough coverage analysis by reviewing applicable policies and endorsements.
• Collaborate with external counsel on coverage matters and litigation strategy when necessary.
• Prepare clear, concise written reports for internal stakeholders, including claims leadership, underwriting, actuary, and reinsurance partners.
• Monitor and comply with applicable statutory regulations and claims handling standards.
• Communicate claim developments, exposure assessments, and authority requests to claims leadership in a timely manner.
• Represent the organization in mediations, settlement conferences, and other resolution forums.
• Partner with underwriting and other departments to share claims insights, identify emerging trends, and contribute to policy wording enhancements.
• Attend select meetings with insureds and brokers to foster strong business relationships.
• Manage relationships with outside vendors, including counsel, while monitoring litigation budgets and ensuring cost-effective outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 6–10 years of experience in management and professional liability claims handling, either within a specialty insurance carrier or law firm.
• Demonstrated expertise in Public/Private D&O, EPL, or E&O claims; experience with program business and MGU/MGA environments preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited institution required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively at all organizational levels.
• Analytical mindset with strong investigative, listening, and negotiation abilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) or equivalent tools.
