As a Senior Claims Counsel, you’ll play a critical role in investigating, evaluating, and resolving liability insurance claims, ensuring strategic and effective case management. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to analyze liability, damages, and coverage, and the expertise to develop and execute resolution strategies that include litigation management, mediation, and risk transfer.

This is a fully remote role, open to candidates anywhere in the United States, providing flexibility while working within a high-performing national team.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-complexity claims with a focus on Professional Liability, Construction and Design-related matters.
• Investigate and evaluate claims, ensuring thorough analysis of liability, damages, and policy coverage.
• Develop and execute resolution strategies, including risk transfer, mediation, and litigation management.
• Oversee litigation, hiring defense counsel and experts, and reviewing pleadings, budgets, and litigation plans.
• Provide legal counsel on coverage obligations, interpreting policy language to recommend and preparing written coverage determinations.
• Directly engage with clients, ensuring exceptional customer service, and providing detailed reports and guidance on risk assessment.
• Represent DWF in mediations and legal proceedings, ensuring regulatory compliance and strong advocacy.

What will help you succeed in this role?

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active attorney’s license.
• 7+ years of experience in claims management, with expertise in defense and coverage.
• Exceptional problem-solving, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.
• Proven ability to work independently while leading claim resolution strategies.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to challenges.
• Good understanding of DWF’s values and motivation to contribute to its success.

What we offer

The salary range for this role is $112,000-$140,000 USD per year. This role is also bonus eligible. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) program with an employer match and financial support programs and resources: Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability and EAP (Employee Assistance Program)
