Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking a Senior Claims Adjuster to manage Employer's Liability claims with exposure primarily in New York and Illinois. The role involves investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving complex, potentially litigated claims arising from employer negligence and labor law exposures.

The candidate will guide defense counsel, experts, and vendors, establish reserves, and collaborate with underwriting and risk control to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Attorney license preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of casualty, liability, workers compensation, employer's liability, or construction claims experience.
• Experience handling litigated bodily injury claims.
• Strong understanding of negligence principles, liability defenses, and damage evaluation.
• Ability to independently manage a high-severity claim inventory.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Licensing Requirement: active adjuster license or ability to obtain and maintain all required state licenses.

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Claims Adjuster to manage a portfolio of Employer's Liability claims, with primary responsibility for exposures arising in New York and Illinois. The successful candidate will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve complex and litigated claims involving allegations of employer negligence, third-party over actions, Labor Law exposures, workplace injuries, and other employer liability matters.

Salary $100,000 - $160,000 + bonus

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, this range represents a good‐faith estimate. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, credentials, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.

This role may be based out of one of the following locations:

New York, NY; Parsippany, NJ; Conshohocken, PA; Wilkes‑Barre, PA; Alpharetta, GA; Rosemont, IL; Plano, TX; and Scottsdale, AZ.
