Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of full-time, professional claims experience.
• Strong knowledge of Colorado insurance laws, rules, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and manage complex to highly complex liability claims, including evaluating coverage, liability, damages, and subrogation opportunities.
• Conduct thorough investigations by interviewing involved parties; review evidence; and perform field investigations as appropriate.
• Analyze claim facts and applicable laws to determine liability, damages, and assess settlement options.
• Manage claims from initial investigation through resolution with accurate documentation in the claims system.
• Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities and coordinate recovery efforts.
• Coordinate with defense counsel and litigation activities as necessary.
• Negotiate settlements and work toward timely resolutions while protecting the City’s interests.
• Coordinate with insurance carriers to obtain appropriate reimbursement and ensure compliance with coverage requirements.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting claims administration.
• Provide timely, professional communication to claimants, attorneys, City departments, and carriers.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the claims adjusting team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
